Let's say you're away from home (or your office), maybe in court or on a trip, and you suddenly find yourself in need of an address or file that you have on your home or office computer. Oh sure, you could lug around a laptop wherever you go (and make sure you've kept it up-to-date and synchronized with your home/office computer).
But that's not always how things happen in the real world.
Well there's an online site you may not be aware of that can magically transform any computer you can access into your very own home or office computer, just as if you were there!
Here's how it works: You need to leave your home or office computer on and connected to the Internet at all times. If you're using broadband, this is no problem since that's likely the way it's connected anyway. But whether you are or not, just make sure you secure it with either a good firewall or other good password security features to keep any online bad guys away.
Then you need to access a great online site called "GoToMyPC.com." It costs about twenty bucks a month (WorkInjury.com™ has no financial interest in the site).
Once you've registered with the site, you just need to find any computer wherever you are (a court clerk's, an Internet cafe, your hotel's, a friend's wireless laptop). As long as this new computer can access the Internet, you just log onto GoToMyPC.com and, presto, your away-from-home computer is magically transformed into your very own home or office computer, complete with the same icons, files, etc.
And when you're done, absolutely nothing is left on the computer you're using so your files remain secure (unless of course you saved the file to the new computer you're using).
If you're away from your home or office a lot, this can be a life saver!
